IF your wondering why I been on this forum so much ,I just got my car back from my son who had it for four years at college........now I need to fix it.

I need to install a new fuel sending unit. While I am in the tank is it wise to install a new fuel pump? How long do the normally last ? This is the original one and it seems pretty strong (47-49 psi). It has 90k miles.
What would you do??

thanks

Well if it is any consolation to you, I had the OEM pump in my 93 LeSabre @ 235K, when I sold it. Of course I never let the fuel level drop below 1/4 tank. Running on empty is what usually kills the pump. With the pressure you have, I would just replace the sending unit and forget about the pump.

I'm at 154k on my original as far as I know and its showing no signs of problems.
