Car Boutique AE86 Trueno with 7MGTE engine

Been busy lately but was able to get this kit knocked out. Its the Aoshima Car Boutique series AE86. Painted in Tamiya NATO green, sitting on Fujimi TVR wheels. The wheels were the wide set meant for widebodied cars but i cut and narrowed them to fit. The engine is a 7MGTE that i had left over from a Fujimi Soarer kit. Had to cut the chassis and hole in the hood to make it fit...One of those fantasy motor swaps that would take tons of money to do in 1/1. Enjoy!

Thanks alot man..Coming from someone who's build i also respect, thats a huge compliment. I really spent my time on this car trying out the wheel fitment and getting the interior details right. Can you belive i stumbled uopn this kit at my local Hobby People in the clearance rack for $8.99? Too bad they didnt have two! I wanna build another one like it but with Hayashi Streets.

Thank you man!:smokin: I keep looking at it and now I want to either a: build a Skyline in a similar fashion or b: order this kit ad do my own thing with it! Aoshima needs to see this one! :iceslolan:smokin::smokin:

I got so busy looking up what exactly a 7MGTE was and where it came from I forgot to post - Great model! I love OD on cars, and what a perfect choice for this one in particular! I love the big square hole in the hood for the motor. Very legit! Great look on this one!

It came out of an old Fujimi Toyota Soarer "Tuning Mecha" series kit. Only thing i wish it had were all the decals. When i tried to apply them, they just disintegrated once they got wet!

Glad you guys like the car, I'm still debating if i should find some mesh grille to cover the hole or if should leave it as is.:runaround:

Heres the interior. Its pretty simple but I think i got the basics covered on it. The harness and "recaro" decals were from a Dragon DTM E36 kit. I gave it a white shift knob to simulate delrin.

thanks man! I really enjoyed building it...i have 3 Fujimi AE86's and this Aoshima blows them away. The proportions on this kit is clearly better than the Fujimi version.

This is a model that I still plan to do to replicate my friend's real AE86 with 7MGTE. Coincidently to your comment about price of doing the swap in real life, my friend offered me his for $1500 installed into my own corolla. You did a good job on the build.

PS I think you know REX, he's one of my buddies down here in SD.
