00 LS trans work question

I'm having the hard shifting problem with my 2000 LS. I've read a lot about this and a lot of things say changing the pressure control solenoid in the trans can sometimes fix it.
So lets say I get the side cover off the trans. Where do I go from there to change the solenoid? Will I have to take more stuff apart or is it just right in there somewhere? Any details from someone who has worked on this before would be great.... I just want to know what I'm getting myself into. Thank you!

First thing to do is have a full scan done by a trans tech with a trans function scanner for a proper diagnosis. If the sol. is bad the side cover must come off to access the part, this is not any easy job in a home/dwy environment. A sight search here should turn up some detailed how to's.
