I think i have a problem with my air shocks/compressor.
I haven't heard the compressor turn on for months. Need suggestions on where to start looking.
1. where is the compressor located
2. where is the leveling switch located.
3. is the fuse located under the back seat.

I find the finding the physical locations on this car is about 70% of the problem lol

any help??

Go to your local auto parts store and get a manual for your car . It should have the info !

Well,, Thank you for you reply.
I found that the manual at the auto store usually does not have the information that I need and I get more info from this fourm. Like I did when I changed my idler pully. So thanks again for you smart ass response and if thats all you have to offer,,, you can keep them to yourself...

What smart ass remark are you referring to ? I tried to answer your question the best I could . There was no attempt ( on my part ) to give a " smart ass " remark ! Perhaps you should look in the mirror and see who has the " smart ass " attitude ! You won't have to worry about me ever trying to help you again ! Have a great life !!!!! :sarcasmsign:

Oldblue...
I already looked for the information at my local auto store.. And there are no books on the aurora... If I could find the info in a book I wouldn't ask the question here. The closest I can come to it is front wheel drive GM cars and there is no mention of the air level system.
If you didn't have the answer to the question,, you need not give the answer you did.

There is no chiltons style manual for the aurora. You should either buy a factory service manual off of ebay or get a subscription to alldatadiy.com. Thats what I have. Its basically the FSM scanned into the interweb which I like alot.

According to alldata it is located under the vehicle, and is attached to the right hand front of vehicle. I would guess that its close to the passenger floor pan. But not sure, never went looking for it, although I suspect mine is on the fritz.

Good luck.

PS Nothing against this board. I spent a lot of time here, and there are very knowledgeable people floating around, but the board has kind of died in the last year or so. I spend most of my time now over at:

Tony,

Any information that you could pass on, on what you found on your system.

I have a 95 as well, that I just got on the road.

Noticed while working on it that the compressor runs after I put something heavy in the trunk for quite a while. I would imagine that it should only run for a few seconds, mine runs for a minute or two trying to level it self out.

The compressor sounds as if it is in the rear of the car.

I got concerned that it might run overnight and drain the battery so I went looking for a fuse under the back seat. The 20amp fuse lable ELC is what controls the system. Not sure if it is the only thing it controls, I pulled it and the compressor stopped.

I think there is a max amount of time that it will run so that it wont drain the battery but not sure.
Most likly your air shocks are leaking. If you jack the car up and look at the rear shocks you will probably see that the rubber between the upper and lower half of the shock is torn. They are pretty cheap (<~$80 a pair) and very easy to install.

Yes I've located the compressor and switch.
After lookin at the arangement it seems like the best solution is to remove the old system and just install "air shocks" with a air fitting in the trunk.
Suggested by some others.
then just fill to desired level,, say 20 - 25 lbs pressure.
