Hi, I am new to this forum. This forum is HUGE! and of course the best one about automotive modeling that I know. Good job!
Let me introduce myself.
I have been into R/C cars for a bit over a year. Painting (on the inside) and decaling was the most fun part of this hobby. Now I want to get into modeling after seeing so many wonderful jobs you have here. I have little experience painting on the outside. I painted a few wings, rearview mirrors and wheels on 1/10 size, but I can't get the shine you are getting.
I read the FAQ twice and I have most of the items necessary to begin with my project. I will probably use Tamiya's Porsche 911 flatnose as a guinea pig since it is the easiest one to do out of the 5 kits I bought yesterday. Is there anything I should know besides the things already mentioned on the FAQ about this kit? Suggestions and comments are appreciated.

Welcome to the forum!
interesting choice you made. ;)
old Tamiya's decal color is little weak so sometimes deep body color (like Peugeot you've got) will see through it.
if you would be displeased it, put them upon general purpose white decal.
hope you to show us your works soon, good luck!

Welcome to AF.
About the painting, just remember what you read in the FAQ and try it, it's like teaching somone how to swim by showing them pictures, but they won't learn unless they're in the water, get what I'm saying? Hope to see your models :)

Perhaps some of you already forgot about me and some are wondering what happened to my model. Well, I only got a chance last Sat. to do some painting on the chassis and spray primer on the body since it has been raining for almost a week!
This week I bought a Tamiya R32 kit, an airbrush, compressor, a bunch of acrylic/enamel paint and brushes so I can start building again when the weather allows. I heard that it is not a good idea to paint the body when humidity is high.
kunta, what do you mean by "put them upon general purpose white decal"?

When put a thin decal on dark color body, I always put white decal on it first. cut white decal off same shape as the kit's decal.
attached photo is Modeler's white decal(Cultgraph) size:200 x 134mm.

Hi all!
I never thought I would see people from Taiwan in this forum. I guess I was wrong.
kunta, thanks for the clarification. I will keep that in mind.

The body was painted this morning. I think it looks pretty good. Now I have to wait :( until next weekend to do some polishing and waxing.

Wow that paint job sure looks good! Can't wait to see it after it's been polished! Keep up the good work.
I painted the main part of my Ferrari F40 body today, and I'ts not looking too bad. I'll paint the engine cover tomorrow. Then it's the long wait until I can lightly sand and polish the body :).
Also A question for you. Your Mercedes Sauber C9 kit, does the kit come with a clear body like on the box? There's one down at my local hobby shop, and I'm thinking of painting it silver if infact it is clear.

Thanks!
The body in the kit is not clear, it is in light gun metal. I think Tamiya shows a clear body on the box to let the potential buyer know that the kit comes with a highly detailed engine.
This 911 flatnose did not come with an engine.

I didn't think it would be clear. Knowing that it is light grey might make me buy it, although I have 3 models to get out of the way first :).

Nice, wish I had the Volvo and Porsche kits you have there. Flatnose is looking good so far, but you shouldn't of glued the black part of the whaletail on yet. I don't know if you did or not but you will have to mask it off now if you want full detail, but it's your first model so just do what flows.
