Trying to identify a part in 2002 Taurus

Can anyone identify the name of this part(see attachment) on rear wheel and what it might cost to fix it?

you need a sway bar link kit, but it doesn't look broken, if its squeaking try spraying penetrating oil on it.

Sway bar it is. It's actually the one on the other side that is the problem. It's no longer connected as you can see in the photo inset.

If you order the 'sway bar' you may get the bar that goes from side to side. As wrenchboss mentioned, you're just looking for the sway bar link kit, or sway bar end links.

From the photo, it appears even the one on the driver's side (main photo) is not in good shape. Notice how the bushings don't appear to be centered? Often the rubber bushings would have a sleeve portion that fits into the bar and centers the link. You will probably experience rattles on bumps/potholes if you leave the 'good' one alone, then find yourself replacing it in a couple of months when it too breaks.

If you get replacements for both sides, once you verify what the parts store sold you is the correct part, it may save you a lot of time to just cut off the old end link rather than trying to loosen it with wrenches. A reciprocating saw with a metal blade cuts through these quite nicely, just be careful not to cut brake lines, brake hoses, tires, etc.
