This is my latest completion. It is box stock with Tamiya paint. It was one of those builds that I had to struggle with because of carelessness and there were times that I wasn't sure if either of us would survive. It had a couple of partial repaints but I'm happy how it turned out. The biggest issue with it was after I put a coat of Future on it. I've never had it happen before, but it wrinkled the decals. Maybe it was because the decals were old. Who knows?

Here is what happened to the decals:

great build!
btw, Future also wrinkled the decals of my F-14A Tomcat; I don't know how to fix it too.

hopefully someone can give us both some advice. =)

Very nice build! It's unfortunate Future messed up the decals, try Gunze's Mr. Top Clear next time.

Nice model! Sorry for your decals, i know how frustraiting is!
Regarding Future, i don't have to much experience with it, but is a good warning because i'm planning also to use this stuff on some future projects. The only explanation is that under your decals are airbubbles trapped! So maybe this is the reason why you got this wrinkels! I had in the past simillar situation but with a hot clear coat ( Tamiya TS 13 ). In present i use Tamiya X 22 and Gunze Sangyo Top Coat and i never had this problem!

Thanks for all of the comments. I'm happy with the car although it didn't really meet my expecatations. Those side numbers were some of the hardest decals that I have ever encoutered. They didn't stick real well and then they had to cover several compound curves. I'm happy that the turned out as well as they did. Actually, about an hour after appling the lower number decal on the right side, I noticed it was missing. Every bit of it gone with no trace of a scrap of it. I checked my fingers, the paper towel I had been using, my desk, everywhere but found nothing. While looking for it, I managed to get some wet paint from a stirring stick on my finger. When I went to wash my hand, I saw the decal on my shirt in the mirror. It was positioned like I had applied it to my shirt. It was in one piece and laid out perfectly. I never have figured out how it made it off of the car, got flipped 180 degrees and applied to my shirt without damaging it. I managed to get it off of my shirt and back on the car while losing only a small section of the black outline. I salvaged the look with a very fine brush, black paint and the steadiest these hands have been in a long time. A couple of other decals also didn't stick that well and moved on me well after they should have set in place.

As for the damage to the decals by the Future, I think I'm going to settle on it being due to the issues with the decals not sticking properly. The paint was Tamiya and dried for more than aweek before I had the opportunity to decal it. I made sure there were no air bubbles under the decals. I used setting solution to get them to settle and waited more than a week before using the Future. The sticking issue is the only wild card that was new to me.

It was definitley a strange build and has me a little spooked on decals from Tamiya's older kits, especially the Schnitzer BMW 635 CSI with extensive decals that are @ 23 yrs old. I have sprayed them with TS-13 and am going to try them. If they don't work out, I'll probably track down some of the Studio 27 Intertec STP decals because I haven't found the Schnitzer decals in the aftermarket.
