I have a 2005 ford focus zx3 with the duratec motor. About 2 weeks ago the battery light came on and I came to the conclusion it was the alternator after a test. Now I have to change it I've been reading forums on the ztec motor and was wondering if its the same for the duratec. I figure on moving the reservoir and supporting the motor and shifting it to get the alt out, I just want to kno about any issues others had. And then to top it off 2 days ago I was reaching for my wallet and the drivers seat snapped back the left side is stiff and holds itself up but the right side is moving freely. Its like the frame of the chair broke and my seats have airbags and I need to kno the process to take the chairs out. If I recall correctly ill have to disconnect the battery for 10 mins then unplug the seat and unbolt it. Any help would be appreciated thanks

Ok, you asked many questions...lets start at the top. First, believe it or not, the generator is made to come out of the top, you need to remove the what looks like a motor mount, and a few other brackets, push the engine forward, and out it comes. The seat snapping, you need a seat frame, and if i remember correctly, the focus's never had seat mounted airbags, the yellow wiring is for the seatbelt pretensioner, which is also an explosive charge. At work, we never disarm them, just unplug and replace/remove the seat. But if you worry, disconnect the battery, turn the key to on, then back to off, and wait a few minutes.
