Coolant leak

I have a 1998 Sebring convertable with a 2.5L V6. The car runs great and has been maintained well.
My problem is that it leaks coolant. The car will leak about a gallon of fluid in between trips. If I keep the fluid full I have no problems but I'd like to repair the problem.
I can't see exactly where the leak is but it is on the drivers side above the transmission. I would guess it's a blown head gasket but I don't know too much about the engine so I'm looking for advise. When I turn the car off I can hear boiling coming from inside the engine on the passenger side.
Has anyone replaced the head gasket on a 2.5L V6? Any advise? Is this a common problem? How can I tell if the leak is the front or rear bank?
I don't know much about Sebrings or Chryslers I just recently bought the car for a song and would like to repair it myself so any advise is appreciated.
