Distributor Must be Advanced to stop bogging on acceleration

My friends,
1.5 Eagle Summit 1992 Mitsu motor
I have to have the distributor in the almost full-forward advance position to stop heavy miss-bang-bog on heavy acceleration
This is a photo-diode distributor for the cam and TDC sensors. not sure how the advance works.
Should I buy a new distributor, this is most likely stock at 160K--
