2006 Ram 1500 A/C Issue

Hello all! I have a problem that I think may be simple to fix.

I have a 2006 Ram 1500 pick-up. Recently, I noticed that the A/C only trickles out, or doesn't blow with as much force as before.

The air is definitely cold. However, when I turn the knob to the highest setting for speed, the fan sounds like it's blowing high speed air, but the air only trickles out.

I was thinking that there might be a hole somewhere in a hose? If the fan sounds loud, I would imagine the fan is OK.

Can someone guide me in the right direction?

Thanks!

Check the air inlet door. Take the blower motor off and look up in the housing and see if the fresh air door is laying there, or just reach up in the houseing and feel and see if the door is laying there. Dodge has had a bit of a problem with the doors breaking and falling down and blocking the air. If it is it takes about 5 or 6 hours to replace the hole housing because you have to remove the dash and possibley the HVAC housing. Ive done a couple of them myself where i work. Its not really difficult its just time consuming.

Good call on the recirculating door. I've checked a bunch of other websites who are saying the same thing. They are estimating anywhere from 1 hour to 7-8 hours because the dash would have to be removed. Is this something you recommend for a person who has VERY limited automotive repair experience?

Thanks again for your help.

Like i said i've done two of them my self. Its not very difficult to do at all, its just finding all the screws and bolts you have to take out and all the trim panels you will have to take off. I believe you will have to take the steering column out, but not completly... Both times i done one i removed the four mounting bolts for the column and laid it on the seat the same with the dash. You wont have to take the dash completly out just most of the way and you can lay it in the seat. As far as the HVAC housing, you wont have to remove it. You can use a long straight screw driver and reach behind the housing and pop the two clips in the back. Thats just a way to try to beat time, beacause to remove the HVAC housing you are suppose to drain the antifreeze and reclaim the AC system.

you just need a few basic hand tools there's about 20 bolts and a few screws, 8mm,10mm,13mm, torx, phillips screwdriver, panel remover.
