Just bought a new Timken front hub and bearing assembly for my 03 Sport Trac 4x4 and was wondering if anybody knows what to torque the axle nut to. Thanks guys.

That would be the ideal thing to do, However may of these repairs have been accomplished using the old nut without any issues.

In a normal torque situation.....the threads of the bolt (or in your case) the axle will actually be stretched and the nut will become burnished. So in theory, Once an assembly is torqued, nut/bolt, they become less effective if used again as far as clamp load and should be discarded and replaced. Same hold true for head bolts, rod bolts, main bolts etc.

Looking at it from a cost factor for your situation, reusing the old nut would be okay.

As always, just my opinion
