HDF F1s with Side Skirt?

Do any of the cars with the HDF kit actually have the side skirt (as in LM, GTR) fitted? I can't decide whether I like it without or not, but as far as I know I've only seen HDF standard F1s without said bodykit addition.

The side skirts were radically changed anyway on the 1996 GTR's so maybe they were not as effective as they were expected?

OK - thanks guys. I thought so but wasn't 100%.
What is everyone's opinion on them? I think from some angles it looks ok without, but from others it looks a bit weird, all high in the middle and not consistent with the lowness (?) at the front.
But then again, not having the full skirt keeps some of that beautiful standard F1 sort of lite look, not heavy like the LM. That's what's awesome about the standard F1 - it looks so graceful and lite. Hmmmmmmmm :runaround: :headshake:

On the point you made about the line along the bottom of the car - I actually think with the side skirt it is slightly more awkward. Compare these two similar images of the side profile of XP1 LM and chassis #014 (in reverse). It is easy to see that the line along the bottom of the road car is more gradually elevated without the skirt. On the LM, it almost looks like the rear bumper should extend further downward, at least in my opinion, whereas on the road car the height difference front to rear is not as immediately apparent. I'm guess when it comes to this subject I am only surprised they weren't added to chassis #018 and chassis #073 - the two F1s that wear the "Extra High Downforce" kit.

What does that comprise of? The GT-like grills over the front wheel arches? Anything else additional to the normal HDF?

I get what you're saying about the line at the back, but to an extent I feel without the skirt, it feels like that at the front - where the wheelbase section is much higher than the front. (I am in now way taking sides - I can't make up my mind! I'm just saying what I see :lol2:)

Nope - you nailed it. I think the side skirts would have been a fitting addition in those two cases.

Those grills make it look bloody awesome imo.
Makes the F1 look super aggressive - love 'em.
Do they actually do anything? I'm assuming a company like McLaren wouldn't put something there just for the heck of it...

Yes, the gills or vents over the front wheels remove some of the air that runs up and under the front wheel arches, allowing it to flow over the top of the car reducing lift in the front end and therefore promoting downforce. One of the original design sketches of the F1 showed the way the air would flow over and through the body. It depicted such an exit for air above the headlights - and in fact the early XPs were fitted with a vent in that location that was removed from the design prior to production.
