A guy said he would trade my ps3 for a 91 katana 750 with about 30k miles. He said it needs a starter. Think i should get it or is this gonna be a forever ongoing project??

It depends on what else is wrong. If the previous owner was unwilling to spring for a starter, he may have neglected other maintenance and repairs.

Also, an inability to listen and hear and engine, clutch and trans run makes this a bit risky. You might find the starter broke because the engine is seized solid.

However, if its cosmetically in good shape (no rips/tears/dents), with all electrics working, decent tires and brakes and a non-seized engine, it probably is a fair deal.

push start it so you can test ride it and then make your decision. The Katana's were pretty reliable bikes, so it would make you a good first bike if you decide to get it.

I thought about suggesting this....I think it's a very good idea.... but usually bikes I come across in this condition have not been run in months.

You may have to work on a bit to get it to run, such as charge/replace the battery, clean out the carbs etc.

Frankly, there is not much point to you doing all this work if you decide not to get the bike.... so it may be best that the owner shows it to you running.
