I've had this '03 Altima for 6 years now and it's been a great ride. Over the past year or so, the interior noise level has gradually gotten unbearable. I did a search for similar topics but no one is experiencing the exact same thing: It's a constant humming/wind sound that gets louder with speed. You can hear it at low speed but past ~40mph or so it makes music or conversations very hard to hear.

The noise does NOT vary on different pavements, or during turns, or during acceleration. I have no idea what the source is and a recent inspection revealed no problems...please help http://www.nissanclub.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif I just want to get my interior back to it's quiet old self.

Sounds like a bad wheel bearing (or maybe multiple wheel bearings). A good mechanic should be able to diagnose which wheel it is pretty quickly.

would a wheel bearing problem make the service engine soon light come on?

I highly doubt it, although my Altima is a 2000 model year so I have virtually no clue about the 2002+ model years. My recommendation is to post a brand new thread and clearly explain your problem so that we can try to help diagnose it.

Hey I have an o3 also and the noise is just like you said. It did not start sounding like that until about six months ago. About 40 it chimes in real good. I haven't had it checked yet but I was kinda thinking wheel bearing. Did you get it figured out yet? Also my service engine soon light came on I took it to a mechanic which pulled the code. He took off the gas cap, worked the big O ring off turned it over and haven't had any problem since. The book says check fuel cap and the light will go out but check that O ring. Let me know about the noise what you find out.
