shock installation wowes

My friend installed his rear shock and spring set up backwards, so i have 4 questions...

1) is that possible to be put in backwards?

2) If so what are the possible damages that can happen?

3) would it cause it to rattle?

4) Is it ok to put Nuespeed springs on stock shocks?
