The "brute" is finally finished. Despite little set-back with the engine lid, it was pretty straightforward build, but not easy by any means. Kit shows its age, and few of the sub-assemblies gave me serious fitting problems. Nevertheless, it is done, and looks beautiful. Base is signed by me (per request). Thanks!

Nice work Alex, great build, fit & finish are all fantastic.
Q. Are those the right rear view mirrors, they look a little strange on the body, i remember my Monteshell came with 3sets of rear view mirrors, why does the F40 come with 2 sets of rearview mirrors?
Fantastic, cant wait to see whats next!!!

Outstanding!!! That's a great recovery after the small mishap with the engine cover breakage.

What an absolute beauty.

This is my all times favorite Ferrari and this model is simply gorgeous!

It looks great on that base!

PS: I suppose it's the exact same type of base like the ones we saw in your cabinet! Having your signature on it is a nice touch!

Yeah, me too. I was actually quite surprised how good it looks in yellow.
Next is my MFH 512BB/LM, 166MM, BMW bike and a few others - take your pick!

I believe these are Euro mirrors. US version had different mirrors. But htey also had different bumpers and blinkers location + various different bits in the engine bay and emission equipment. Not sure about Monteshell version.

Yep, same base, same display case.

Thank you all! Glad you like it.

The 166MM! It's on my list of favorite Ferraris. One day I'll buy the Hiro kit and built it, albeit a road version. I've seen one in person, and it had the leather wrapped around the top of the dash and doors with big stitching - a really cool design feature.

Any of them is welcome, however it's been quite a long time since the 166 didn't progress so I'd go for it.

Well, I think i might finish the bike first, cause it is almost done anyway.
Then I'll get to the 166. And I made quite a bit of progress on 512BB/LM, but need to sort through the pix, and post an update.

epic win!!!!

I believe it is 4x10 inches.

Thanks!

Alex,
There are so many fine models exhibited on this site that if I were to join in the chorus of appreciative 'Ooohs' & 'Ahhhs' on all of them I'd spend all my waking hours at the keyboard! However, I feel this build of yours warrants an expression of my admiration and appreciation.
I have this kit in my stash but having previously read that the kit may not be the easiest build (and you say yourself it's showing its age) I've wondered if I would be able to do it any kind of justice. Your WIP thread has been truly inspirational and encouraging to me (if also a tad intimidating!) and it's given me the confidence to at least consider bulding my kit one day soon-ish. Thank you for that - I'm grateful for the time & effort you've given in sharing your work and methods, and for the lessons I'm learning.
Jon.

Very beautiful finish! The WIP was a great read to follow, too. All around just a fantastic build up. The yellow is perfect. Your detail is tremendous and it's just a joy to look at. Thanks!

Alex,
i am really a great fan of your smooth and clean builts!
This is the next impressive example of astonishing craftsmanship.
I have my doubts if i could give (automotive)surfaces such shiny and impeccable appearances like you do. This is a science of it's own and you are for sure one of , if not the, best.

Yours

Oh wow, this Ferrari is very nice. A very clean build, nothing to say more. Two enthusiastic thumbs up :)
Perhaps this car will be my next project^^

Did you use a PE set? And if yes, where did you order it? Hiroboy?

Brutal execution Alex. I do not like the F40, but your engine bay is superb.

It is always a pleasure to the eye to see your works! This F40 is fantastic, the yellow body is a little bit strange for the 1st sight to me, but suits the car well! Congrats!
