Here's another project that I started. I really have a problem with starting new builds before finishing up the old projects :) I guess it gives my painted car body enough time to dry though.
Its a Tamiya kit that I got from a club member, partially assembled and painted so I had to strip the body down in a brake fluid bath. its going to be pretty much box stock aside from the lowering job and upgraded wheels. I'm still undecided on which wheels to use so maybe you guys can help me decide.
here's the body before polishing, the clear coat came out well aside from some dust that I need to sand down. suspension has been lowered as well.

Good luck until the finish...

TRBJ, on the contrary, they are indeed fujimi 18 inch BBS wheels :D
the paint is actually a color for our local Honda Civic *gasp*, honda formula red urethane paint :) it has about 3 coats of red and 4 coats of urethane clear.
I'm leaning towards the aoshima bbs though.

Somehow I like the fujimi ones better even though I don't like the center lug nut.

wtf??
my 18in fujimi bbs looks like the one here
http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/showpost.php?p=5897127&postcount=9
which looks NOTHING like whats in the box or like yours!
that particular set of yours is very nice indeed..
and yes i think i like prefer the fujimi ones than the aoshima.. despite the huge boob in the center >_<

The wheels you have are BBS LMS, fujimi makes a few different ones. The ones he has are BBS RGS.
Progress looks good, nice red paint and the wheels will suit it well.

The paint looks like you can literally use the body as a mirror!

WOW, that is a great paint job. it's like a mirror. I find the aoshima looks best.

Great paint job! However it's a pity that you didn't remove the sprue before painting, it will leave traces on the great painted surface when you'll remove it.

The sprue contact points won't be red in color, though, so it should be 'saveable'.

Sure it is "saveable". I'm just baffled when I see people go down this route, when it's easier to remove the sprue and have an overall good finish.

thanks guys! I'll probably go with the aoshima and save the BBS RGs for a more period correct car :)
jano11, I decided to keep the sprue on so I can have some support for the a-pillars. I snapped off the a-pillars in a previous Z3 build while I was buffing the paint so I'm a little traumatized by it. the mounting points will be carefully sanded down and painted black though.

Great choice on the wheels, did you get them from a kit, or was it the bbs dtm wheel set? If it was the wheel set, where did you get it? I can't seem to find any place with any aoshima rims in stock at all.
