Ok guys just wanted opinons on changing out the engine in a 1996 Chevy Blazer 4X4 with a 4.3L.
Is it easier to remove the engine with the transmission or leave the transmission in the truck?
Let me know what you think, I'm about to take on this project tomorrow. Thanks

Just change engine.
No need to pull transmission unless engine is locked up and will not turn to get convertor unbolted/

Thirded. Would be so much harder to pull both at once.

:sarcasmsign:
Nope engine not locked up just knocking like H*%$. Guess that happens when you dont check the oil level and your front seal is leaking.
But thanks for the input and I'll let you guys know how it goes today and tomorrow.

Well this is not going as easy as planned. But we'll get it out as long as the junkyard motor is good. They can't get the thing to run.

Make them check it out good after they get it running and give you a good written warranty with it.
Let us know how it goes.
Good Luck

Just curious anyone here know an easy way to get the top bellhousing bolts out any easier than with a wrench? Just looking for a little faster process. :runaround:

As mt said u have to get them from down under with a 2 to 3 foot extension with a swivel socket.

Thanks both of you, been a long time since I got online and just wanted to let you know that the engine swap went nicely, other than that one bell housing bolt. Thanks for the input from all of you
