95, 1.9 press brake ignition turns on

I ahve a 95 1.9 and when we press brake pedal the ignition turns on. If you have the car running and press the brake, you can't turn the car off. Ignition stays on. Replace the ignition and still have problem.

Hi, welcome to the forum. I think you have a short-circuit in the wiring, and I think it might involve the rear window defroster circuit. Below is the layout of your interior fuse panel - could you remove the 'Defog' fuse and then let us know if the ignition circuit still become live when pressing the brake pedal? Thanks.

If the ignition is still live when pressing the brake pedal with the Defog fuse removed, then plug the fuse back in and then remove the ABS fuse - if it's still live then replace the ABS fuse and then remove the Engine fuse. I think the fault will be on one of those three circuits. Let us know what you find.
