A/C condenser replacement on a Regal '98

Does anybody know how to remove the A/C condenser on a 98 Regal? Mine is leaking so I have to replace it. It seems that I will have to remove the radiator which would mean I would have to drain the antifreeze/coolant, and so on ... very unpleasant job. I have Haynes manual but the general instructions there for a bunch of GM makes do not seem detailed enough... I will appreciate any advice or references/links to proper web-sites...

That is correct on removing the radiator first. The procedure is doable but tedious. I replaced a radiator last year in one of my Regals. Start by draining the coolant and then the wishbone engine mounts including the brackets at the header panel. Also, it will help to remove the two cooling fans and fan shroud. Then transmission fluid lines. Remove both lower and upper radiator hoses. Remove electrical connector to the coolant level sensor. There are at least three retainers bolts and brackets that need to be removed that secure the radiator to the header panel. The radiator will be removed up and then out but there is a wiring harness that will be in the way. Also, it will help to remove the battery and set it aside to give clearance at the right side.

Thanks very much, BNaylor! Exactly what I needed, much better than Haynes manual!
