Valve Specs

does anyone know what the spec is to tighten my valves? i have a 97 civic ex and have that valve lash knocking when the car is cold and was wondering if i can adjust it my self if i have the specs.. or should i just take it to honda? any help???

im not sure of the spec exactly, but for my b16, valve on the intake side are .007in to .009in, and the exhuast is .009in to .011in.

tighten them down so that they are hand tight and dont wobble or nothing.

would a chilton or helms manual help me out with the correct specs? and would hand tighten work well? :confused:

helms might have it but chilton doesnt and they tighten the valves by hand but ur best bet is to just take it to honda shouldnt take them more than a couple minutes to adjust.

any ideas on how much it will cost me to take it to Honda? or should i trust a local shop to do it and hope they don't mess with anything else to get business?

I dont think a local shop would know what gauges to use honestly honda's the best bet it shouldnt cost much maybe nothing at all if there generouse its just a simple process of turning a screw driver.

i think i'll call honda tomorrow and see what the deal is.. i hope that is actuall what the problem is and nothing more serious
