Mixing lacquers

Just wondering if its possible to mix Mr. Color lacquer paints with Tamiya's TS lacquer paint series.

The easiest way would be take a little of each and mix them. You don't have to use a whole can to find out the result.

The answer is that it is strongly not advised, but you might get lucky. Unfortunately, testing it out in a small batch will not conclusively tell you- just because it works once absolutely does not mean that it is a safe practice when messing with lacquers. If it goes bad, it could do it all at once, or it could do it months after the paint is sprayed. I've certainly had it happen.

Don't do it on anything that you will be frustrated/disappointed to strip in a week- or a year.

I think it's possible, since I had used Mr Color CL-184 Super Clear II over Tamiya lacquers. They are all Synthetic lacquer based paints so I think there should be no problem. As always just to make sure, test the combination you plan to use first in a piece of plastic. In my most recent build, I mixed Modeler's paint with Finisher's thinner and Gunze Sangyo's Mr. Mild Retarder, more or less the same thing..all Synthetic Lacquer based products.

I used to mix Tamiya and GSI Creos lacquers all the time. Never had any trouble.

I tried before, it failed miserably. Paint cuddles and destroyed. Not worth trying actually imo.
