Is my car safe to drive?

Hi, I just got a 2008 focus about a month ago, and the AdvanceTrac light came on today. It won't turn off, even after restarting the car.

The owner's manual says that if the light remains on, I should get the system serviced immediately.

What is this, and, how critical is this that I get it serviced immediately?
Not knowing much about cars, I'm scared to drive it. Can I drive it for a few more days before getting it serviced?

Advance Trac improves vehicle control by sensors that monitor your stability at the wheels. It keeps your car traveling in a straight line if you skid out on rain, ice or snow. It also improves stopping power, traction, handling and stability. The system will shut down if it is defective. It simply isn't working (it's turned off). You won't lose control. No hurry to get it fixed. You can wait a few days to get it serviced. I wouldn't put it off too long as it is a good system and has definate advantages when it is working.

I this standard issue on all ford cars (http://www.thecarconnection.com/make/ford) or is it just limited to the focus?

Waht spec focus do you have?

Had you been driving the car for a while you would have noticed this problem at the wheel. I would get it checked out asap
