Ok, so I was driving down the road the other day and went to turn off on to a different road and when i put it in neutral the car died. Now it won't start back up. All the accessories belts turn but the cams wont. Theres a little over 2000 miles on a fresh rebuild. The timing belt still has tension on it but have not yet been able to fully check it. Checked with the previous owner who had the engine rebuilt and he had said the car has done this before and that it was something with the alarm on the car. I highly doubt that it would be an alarm issue but who knows dumber stuff has happened.
There were no noises that I heard from the car when this happened it was just like i turned the key off. Have had a few opinions but nobody i know knows for sure what the problem is.

Well if the cams are not turning that is showing a mechanical problem. It has nothing to do with the alarm. How do you know the cams aren't turning? Did you pull the top of the cover off? What was the belt doing when you where trying to crank the motor? It either has to be slipping on the crank pulley or the cam sprockets. Dont turn the motor over anymore. Unfortunately there is probably some damage to the valves so your going to need to pull the head and see what happened in there. Be careful taking the timing belt off, try and spot what jammed it up so you can fix it. Good luck

yes i took the timing cover off. the cams will turn about a 1/4 inch and then stop and everything else keeps turning. Will definately check the crank pulley out. Thanks for the quick replys. You guys are awesome.

I would pull the valve cover off first. There may be something jammed up in there keeping the cams from turning. Like I said earlier though at this point there may be damage to the valves so I would pull the head just to make sure.
