:eek7: This one is a new one to me, while accelerating to about 2500rpm or higher, my parking break randomly turns on, and will not turn off until I let off the gas. now, while I accelerate slowly, it stays off?

anyone takers?

Are you talking about your parking brake, or the brake warning light?

two of em. bottom left, red. I park on a hill, so whenever I park I use the parking break and those two go on.

The parking brake is mechanically engaged. If it would turn on while you were driving, the back wheels would more than likely lock-up and you would drag them. Is this whats happening?

Are you sure its just not your "BRAKE" warning light turning on?

Check the fluid level.

If it is just in fact your brake light and not the actual parking brake itself check your brake fluid level. This will often start to come one when your brake fluid level is low and with you accelerating or on a hill it is causing the sensor to think there is even less than what is in the resevoir. Top it off and I bet you'll be fine.

k, so following advice here, I topped up the brake fluid. I also tightened connections around to make sure. this fixed the (!) and (P) lights. the next day, my ABS and Trac Off lights came on??? a friend with a 98 monte carlo said it was because of the speed sensor? I took it to a partssource store to do a check, but they couldnt do one as it wasn't an engine error code, so I'm at a loss as to what it is exactly. the friend said the gp's have 4 of em', one for each wheel. partssource said they have 1. anyone here know? (and I appreciate help thus far!)

GP's have 4 wheel speed sensors (1 at each wheel hub) and 1 vehicle speed sensor (at the output shaft of the transmission).

What I would do is unplug each wheel speed seonsor plug and check for corrosion. While your there, measure the resistance of each hub sensor. I dont know what the spec should be, but you can compare all 4 of them. Chances are if one is very far off spec, you have found your problem.

not to sound dumb here, but no clue how to do any of that or where to look.

Hmmmm, jack up each corner of the car and use jackstands. On the lower controll arms up front you will find a wire harness with a plug, just unplug it and probe the leads of a multi-meter into the end that goes to the sensors.

You could also bring it to a shop that can watch the BCM sensor data with a scan tool. They should be able to pinpoint exactly what sensor is causing your issues.
