Cost to Convert to Carb

I recently converted my GT-RA to carb and I thought some guys may want to have a list of what's involved and the price. I got most of the stuff through Summit. The one key is the Aeromotive regulator which allows you to use the efi pump with the carb. It regulates an EFI pump down to the pressure needed for carb. Works perfectly.

Tips:

The 5" Monster tach is the perfect size for me and mounts right to the steering shaft with a clamp. I had to trim the bracket that mounted this Pi display.

I had to make a gauge panel for the gauges. When you pull the efi stuff out of the car you'll end up with several usable OEM quality plugs. One has 8 wires on it and I used it to wire up the gauges so when I need to pull the main panel I can just unplug the gauges and remove it as one piece - like normal.

I'm glad I did it. The Weiand Stealth intake is a good piece. I need to play with carb jetting since it was setup for a much higher hp motor but the feel of the car is going to be right. I was worried about throttle response / feel and I no longer am.

I'll take a few pictures when I get a chance. I really pulled a bunch of "junk" out of the car...

Yeah... all said moving to aluminum heads and the carb saved us about 150 pounds when you look at everything that was removed.

great thread! I wish I had seeen the EFI to Carb regulator before I went out and bought a new carb pump! lol

Although, I used a "Holley Red" internally regulated pump(to 7psi) and it was only $120

To add to that.............the Holley red only pumps to 7psi, which cuts down on the heat in the fuel/ lines from the added pressure of the high pressure pump, supposed to be good for a few extra HP!

Yeah I was informed that it was more durable to switch pumps vs. regulating the EFI pump, but who knows if that was just them trying to sell me a new pump.

I've heard just the opposite. There is a return line and the system is seeing 6lbs of pressure. I would think the EFI pump is seeing very little strain since it's designed to operate at much higher pressures. There is a lot of fresh fuel flowing through the line and back to the tank. On my cobra I have a Holley blue with no return line. I'm pretty sure the fuel in the cobra is hotter although it's never been an issue.
