99 venture - code P0717

I have a 99 Chevy Venture with 207,000 miles. The trans was rebuilt at 144k. The P0717 OBD2 code says that a trans speed sensor is not sending a signal. I have learned that this sensor is inside the trans and will therefore take about $600 to fix. I was wondering if someone knows where the wiring from this sensor comes out of the trans. Since there is no signal, there is the possibility that the wiring, and not the sensor is bad.
By the way, the car seems to be running fine and I am getting into all 4 gears.
Thanks.

Yes, I know that sensor you are asking about. I've had my trans apart to replace the solonoids and the speed sensor is right inside the case--clips in kinda cheaply too as I recall.

Anyway, all wiring on the '99 exits the tranny at the top of the case. If you had x-ray eyes and could look through the front fender, you would see the transmission bell housing as it sets on the engine. At the 12 oclock position on top is the connector.
It comes loose by squeezing the sides at 3 and 9 oclock and pulling out.
You can see the connector at the bottom center of the pix below:

You can replace the speed sensor yourself in a weekend. Its tedious but nothing that needs special tools or lifts. I'd not pay $600 for the job.
