1998 K1500 GMC with 5.7L, automatic.
OK I installed the distributor per lots of reading other posts. #1 TDC and got it to drop in and rotor points to "8" like MT shows in this link.

It starts and runs fine, but code P1345 keeps coming back. I know I need to get to a GM scanner to be able to read "Cam retard offset" and I hope the P1345 can go away by turning distributor to get cam offset within 0-2 degrees.
My question is:
Is it OK to drive it like this until I get to a scanner, or will I cause some damage??

Nevermind. I rotated the dist a few degrees and the P1345 went away. I got it on a scanner and Cam retard was -13 degrees. I adjusted to 0 degrees and it runs great.
