Hu's don't really put out that much power .... I would put an amp to a set of infinity's

pretty much any componant set you get should be amplified. That's my opinion. It's up to you. I have worked with those Infinity speakers and I really don't like the High pass in the X-over. It is real harsh and tend to get a bit raspy. I do how ever like the Alpine Type-R componants. They are really smooth and the high pass for the tweeter is real smooth as well. the mid bass driver when amplified hit nice and hard. I currently have Boston Acustic Pro's in both my Civic's. I really like them, but for much less money you can get the same if not better performance from the Alpine Type-R's.

are the alpines really that good? the infinity's specs are a bit higher at 70wats rms compared to 50rms on the alpines. i was thinking bout getting the type r's but the infinity's specs caught my attention.

the difference between a speaker that can handle 50 watts and one that can handle 70 watts is not a big deal.

hmm.. well i guess i'll go with the alpines.. do they fit right in a 97 civic w/o too much hassle? and i'll def. amp them cuz i have 2 free channels to work with from my amp. i'm guessing pioneers sound crappy too right?

pioneer doesn't sound crappy, but they run out of steam, if you know what I mean. They will start to distort sooner. The rears will drop right in, I belive it is a 6X9. the fronts need to be cut in. the door panel needs to be cut out to fit the bigger basket of the speaker. it is well worth the work.

not only width, but check the depth clearance. i bought a set and i had to return them because i couldnt fit them in. if i mounted the speakers the way they were supposed to be, the window would hit if i rolled it down.

this can be very true. i had to heavily modify my doors to allow for install of my Infinity Perfect 6.1 set, worth it tho.

I just did a set of Type-r's in a 99 Si. , it cleared the window.

i'm guessing the 97's and the si's should be the same door set up right? also i was looking at the rockford fanatic series. how are those compared to the type r's?

About the same, both are very good.
The door panels on the two door civic is the same as the 99-00 Si.

the alpines are a very good sounding speaker and they are not too expensive, only like 25o a pair, but if you want real volume that is still clear and awesome get the boston pro components, just the 6.5 handles 200 watts, then theres the tweeter, i have them hooked to a 90x4 rms cutting edge car audio amplifier and they are sooo awesome, but you cant be affaid to spend a little money

i just might go with the alpines cuz i seen them for 130 on ebay. i'll be pushing them with a rockford 600 4 channel. i hope that should be enuff.

Out of the ones you have picked i would definately say that the alpines are the best. I work in a car audio shop and the alpine type R sub is probably the best thing we have in the store so the R line is definately awesome.... you gotta be careful getting car audio stuff off of ebay though.

since you don't actually know or ever even meet the seller .... just beware of buying online. Caveat Emptor ...... let the buyer beware

Lots of our customers will buy something off the internet or from walmart or somewhere like that. Then comes the sad part cause if their stuff is screwed up they have to go to the trouble of sending it back and most of the time there is no warranty. If you buy something from a small store w/ a good reputation then they should handle all of that for you and they'll back all the products they sell. That way if there are ever any problems you'll have somebody on ur side that'll do all they can to help you out.
