Well, I would say simply always apply a coat over the whole model or part, and if you seperately paint parts from body for example apply a same coat during the same time... :screwy:

two: how do you build tonneau covers for minitrucks?

Any pic to illustrate ?
I may have some idea... I use "balsa" boards to represent wood and wood accesories such as case and trunks... With pieaces of paper to represent hooping (cercling ?) all around the edges.

If you see what I mean...

Avoiding paint layer difference kinda requires you to learn to spray the paint in smooth, even, thin layers. Apply it (the second coat especially) in thin layers until it is opaque and even, and then no more. Overcoating with clearcoat will help even out any step.

There is no one way to make a tonneau cover. Instead there are a number of different ways, depending on how you want it to look. If you can share some pics with us and describe exactly what you want, we can help you with suggestions.
