college proffesors suck. Theres no other way to put it. They suck. They dont teach a shit worth of what they test you on. Bertter yet, when you come to them with a question about a problem of their design, they dont know how to do it! What the hell.....

10-23-2001, 08:50 PM
oh yeah, and if they actualy do start to work there way through a problem you cant understand a damn thing they say because they've all got indeciferable accents.
ok, i think im done ranting for now.

*lol* Yeah, I got a prof like that in KC. Luckily, the course was only college algebra, and because of his handicap (a motorized wheelchair) and his accent (thick egyptian) he basically had me teach the class with another girl who was at about my level... :D

That was fun. Atleast when I started teaching people could understand what I was saying! :)

Like the line from Ghost Busters alluded to, they never had to produce anything in the real world. Its all theory to them. However, learn the theories and the processes. If you can convert those to the real world, you'll be in high demand.

Exactly what Yogs said. They kinda just paint pictures of how things can and should be, you have to materialize it. It sucks though. When I was in college, I had a teacher go through a whole class, not answer one question, then quiz you the next day on the topic previously covered.

Does the word "Nerve Racking" sound familiar. He wouldn't even tell us what would be on the quiz either, so you had to cover a lot of topics just to be safe.http://www.ukobservers.net/cwm/otn/ez/ezhappydead.gif

Go to a rinky dink little college and you can party all the time and still pass your courses. Or, go to a good school, study your ass off (which makes the party time all that much more special) and make something of yourself. I'm 34 now and I am glad I put myself through college so I can make some serious $$ now. :D

I hate college professors!!! I swear I'll just take my Calc prof's glasses and smash them on her desk, only to proceed and break her other arm!!! Why can't she see what I can be??? Why won't she just let me be??? She always has to put me down. And a student who's twice as clueless as I am gets 2 letter grades better on our exam!!! A freakin B!!! she didn't deserve it. I did. I studied. I did the homework. I am ontime to class, and I get screwed!!!!!!!! WHY???

Okay, that feels better... but I still think she had best sleep w/one eye open

why do they go and teach you things you will never sue again? Ive talked to countless engineers that say they dont use physics of calculus at all anymore. They just throwstuff into computer programs and see what they can come up with. I mean dammit. Why cant i just use the damn programs now instead of having to take stupid tests and fail them?

Worst part is that I'm learning to become one of those damn teachers who can't teach to save their life!!!! I have to know this stuff, and I don't have any computers to keep my @ss out of a sling...

Actually, make that: :angryfire

I'm there with ya dude :) I hate fucking college I FLUNKED 2 out of 4 of my classes and things just aren't going tha way I would like but I just wanted to tell you that your not alone and that I hope things only get better for you :)

If you hate college, why are you there? If you're forcing yourself to learn something, you are in the wrong field. If you dont like the shit now - you sure as hell wont like it out in the real world either. I know ther are some bullshit classes to take and they can be a bitch. Saying that college sucks seems to indicate a bigger problem.

i thnik you may have a point there. ive actually been thniking about changing my major for the last week or so. I think its to soon to tell though seeing as how ive only been here for two months. We'll see how the semester ends up and then decide from there. It'd help if the professors spoke english though.

I like math, I really do. This professor is impossible. She marks off points just because the wind blows. My exams and homework come back with more red than charcoal on them; usually for no reason what so ever. Granted, I do mess up on some problems, and that is deserved, but she once took a point off a 5 point homework assignment because the capital D for derivative WASN'T TALL ENOUGH for her liking... tell me that isn't a reason to be pissed... :angryfire

College life is friggin' grueling... Midterms suck! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHH!!!

Okay, I'll hand it to you that college can be grueling at times. Midterms do suck (just ask me, I had to cure poverty this weekend). There are always those occasional professors who drive you up a wall or make you wonder why you even get out of bed in the morning to make it to their class, but above all, college can be a pretty great experience. Of course, I'll have to re-read this post later this week as I grumble, scream, and threaten my chem professor with pouring concentrated acid on his bike seat...but regardless, I wouldn't have passed up the opportunity to be here. It is challenging, it can be extremely frustrating, but hey, what aspect of life isn't?

What the hell is all this college-flaming crap? College was awesome. Yeah, it had its share of ups and downs (hmm... just like life in general perhaps?), but in general it was incredible. Though I agree that mid-terms really seem to serve such an arbitrary purpose of trying to illustrate an individual's ability to absorb and regurgitate short-term information. I didn't spend any serious time working until my senior year. But then it was very serious. And yet, that was my favorite year.

Gang$tarr, and others who have not yet attended college but may in the future, it can be very fun while still passing all classes :ylsuper Fear not.

Thats pretty strict....Actually I never even knew Derivative had to be written with a capital D. Now youre telling me...

College life is ok. Sure its hard work and frustrating at times, but I enjoy the challenge put to me by shitty professors that dont teach, and college girls are ok. I could spend the whole day just sitting in the student lounge watching em walk by, and I wouldnt get bored :D

The capital D was in an equation... like:

y'=(3sin^2 x) Dx (sin x)

But my D wasn't tall enough, so she marked me off a point

Oh yeah, and I discovered my own stress-relieving solution to my problem (aka HER)... I just don't bother getting up for class anymore, and get my D anyways. Why try? I"ll get the same grade, and more sleep!!!! :flipa:
