Hello everyone, I'm looking for some direction here. I have a 1978 power wagon and I lost the key. I have been looking for months (obviously not a daily driver). I have pretty much given up on finding the key. Is there any way I can get a replacement key using the VIN on a vehicle this old or do I have to change the ignition?
Any help is appreciated.

I don't suppose you have the original key knock-outs? You can take those to a Chrysler dealer and have a new one made.
Alternatively, was the ignition key the same as the door or glovebox key? If yes, just remove the lock cylinder (from the inside of the door, easy to do) and take it to a locksmith. He can cut a new key for you from that.
If the key was unique to the ignition, you can remove the steering wheel and pop out the ignition lock cylinder and take that to a locksmith.
