had issue with mass air flow, car kept stalling, so I replaced it with a new one, now it runs fine till I get out on the road and it stalls again. Then it will run fine again for a while and then stall again. It runs great with the MAF unplugged but getting poor fuel economy.

sounds like another bad MAF. I've seen them bad out of the box more than I've wanted to. what kind did you replace it with? i would go with the OE AC Delco since all others seem to be junk.

got it at Autozone because it was half the price, think its a cordone or something like that. Its a reman, 1 yr warranty. It definetly is better than the old MAF, the old one the car wouldn't run at all, but with this one it runs but stalls now and again. Do I just need to let the computer get used to it or something?

Cardone is the worst brand out there for reman electronics. I would bet you got another bad one.

should I reset the codes in the computer first before I go get another MAF? I heard that the computer has to relearn everything after you plug in the new MAF. Besides it does run better than then the old MAF.

If I should reset the codes, how is this done? I heard you disconnect the battery and then hold the horn button down, is this true?

The best way is to have a scan tool erase the codes. I've never heard of the unhook battery/push horn button technique.

went thru the exact same problem with the wifes 2000 gt. ended up buying a used MAF from a salvage yard in northern ohio that specializes in gm front wheel drive cars. got a OEM MAF with 48000 miles on it for 75.00 shipped. after tinkering with her car for a year or more, it is finally fixed! :p

I just wonder why this MAF acts so differently then the original, with the old one the car won't even idle, with this new one the car runs good but stalls every ten minutes or so. Does the computer need to get used to the new part?

If you haven't cleared the old trouble code, then that may be part of your issue. The reason that the new part acts differently than the new/reman one could be an internal issue. If your old one was dead shorted, it will cause the car to not start or start/stall, If the reman one is just off or has an intermittent issue, it could allow the car to run, but stall intermittently.
