2001 LS stalls every morning

2001 Buick Regal LS
- 3.8 non-turbo - Approx. 120K
Recent maintenance
– replace MAF sensor
– removed and cleaned throttle body
– replaced vacuum hose that goes into the throttle body

No DTC being generated.

I had tagged this on another string, but decided to create it’s own with a title more appropriate.

I am having an intermittent problem - by intermittent I mean it only happens in the morning – every morning.

Initially it starts and idles fine – if I immediately leave the house I get to the end of the block, stop, turn left and go up a slight incline (two blocks) get to a stop sign, let off the gas and it dies. Starts right back up, turn right and go down a hill (1 block) to the next stop sign and it dies. Repeat a couple of more times until I get onto the main road and once it gets going I have no more problems with it the rest of the day.

This morning I had to take out the trash so I started it and went about my business.
Approx 90 seconds of idling the engine dies. I get in and it starts, however it reacts similar to how it did prior to replacing the MAF sensor – won’t idle by itself but I can keep it running by keeping the RPMs about 1500 and compensating. After what seemed like less than 2 minutes it idles by itself and I leave having no more problems the rest of the way to work.

Note – after I get off work – the car has been sitting for 8+ hours, get in it and off we go – no problems.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Duane

Hi Duane,

Have you checked fuel pressure for proper specs at the front fuel rail?

No I haven't - I'll need to get a tester - will post when I get it.
Thanks,
Duane

Does the 3.8l non-turbo require a special tester? AZ has a GM TBI one listed separately.
Thanks,
Duane
