Got a rock in my windshield the other day so got the windshield replaced yesterday. My wife picked up the truck today and now there is NO sound coming from any speaker.Have made sure the mute is not on, have tried it in BOTH radio and cd mode ( yes the cd appears to be playing). The volume bars go up and down on the lcd screen, have tried front/rear and left/right side balance adjustment. Anyone got any idea's?????? Thanks in advance for any replies

it's possible that the speaker wires have been cut somewhere along the line

Thanks for your reply but after further checking now find that when you turn the ignition to run the stereo works perfectly. Start the truck....no volume. turn the truck to accessory....no volume. Anyone have any other suggestions?

Hmmmmm started truck this morning....stereo working. Went downtown got in and no sound again. If it was the ignition switch there would be no power at the stereo.....there is power there as you can see the cd running, you can change channels search seek etc in radio mode. Sorry but it can't be ignition switch. Thanks anyways. anyone else got any potential solutions????

sounds like the headunit is jacked up, I find very odd though that it happened right after they were messing around with the windshield. I really don't know much about factory systems, there may be a wire they pinched somehow.

do yourself a favor and get a wiring harness to go with it

One final thing. My wife noticed there is a small round hole in the top of the dask ( looks factory , about 3/4 inch diameter) any idea if there should be a plastic plug or something else in this hole) I have seen a small plastic bubble on the dash in some chevy trucks. I have no idea what that is and if this truck should have it. Could this have something to do with my problem???

you would be better off asking your question in the chevy truck forums, they would be far more knowledgeable about that stuff.

Sounds to me like one of the speaker wires is shorting - always a pain to find. Usually just easier to run some new wiring than to track down the problem.:2cents:
