97 Sunfire Engine Problems

I have a 97 sunfire with a 2.2L engine and auto transmission which won't fire on one cylinder. I've been told that it could be a valve or something like a map sensor, but it seems like everyone is just guessing at the problem. Has anyone had this problem and has a good idea what could fix it?

well did you check the coil-->wire--> spark plug to that ONE cylinder that's not firing?

how about an OBD II trouble code scan? as well... it's free at autozone to have it scanned or free to "rent" and return

It turns out it was the head, there was a hole in the bottom of one of the valves. The car is back together now except it is now overheating, any ideas?
