Procedure for replacing spark plugs

Since I had my 00' GP 3.1L V6 -125100+ km for 3 years its time to replace my spark plugs. I am not sure If i need to replace the wires but so far I purchased the sparks plugs already. What is the procedure for replacing spark plugs before I attempt this task?:confused:

The wires are probably due.

There really is no "procedure" per say...

Blow/spray/brush the dirt away from the spark plugs, twist and pull on the boots to release them (not very easy), remove the spark plugs with a 5/8's spark plug socket.

Some are going to tell you to rotate the engine forward, I prefer not to unless completly necessicary.

Just take your time and do not get frustrated. Also be careful with plug 6 it is near the O2 sensor, it is possible to break it. The area at plug 6 is tight. I had a hard time removing the plus wires. I broke 2 of the rear wires. I bought a set of wires just in case. I am glad I did. I also bought extra dielectric grease and put more on the spark plug once every 4 months to make it easy to pull off the wires.

For the 3100 V6:

Firing order is: 1-2-3-4-5-6

coil pack left to right 5-2 3-6 4-1

rear bank left to right 1-3-5
front bank left to right 2-4-6

Save yourself some grief and put on new wires with the plugs. Might want to use some antiseize on the plug threads and a little dielectric grease on the end under the wire boots.

+ 2 major checks on doing this job:

spark plug gap; check it before installing-- recommend double tipped platinum plugs for similar interval changes... .060"

torque at only 11-15 lbs-ft since they're tapered plug seats

I took the car to a mechanic and he infomed me that I do not need to replace the ignition wires because they last for long period of time. Quick question, I check under the hood of my car and the name of the ignition wire is MSD Ignition. Do I still need to replace the ignition wires or keep them since I'm assume they were new when I purchase the car in 2007 and never change them...
