Fuel filter replacment

Hello,
I've been to other posts and I completely understand how to change it. The thing I don't get it is: In between the feul filter and the gas tank is a black box. I need to remove it in order to turn a wrench on the filter. That filter is so far up that if I can get a wrench on the nut I couldn't turn it. Any help on this would be great.

That is the evaporative charcoal cannister used for the evaporative emissions system and it can be removed to get more access to replacing the fuel filter.
