2001 Suburban Dilema

So today I took my suburban in for a leak and found out its a coolant pipe that has been discontinued and is going to be really expensive to have a new one made. So... I'm thinking of just cutting my losses and dumping it but the problem is, the suburban is a manufacture buyback/ lemon. This was not disclosed at the time of purchase 5 years ago. So no dealer will give me a decent trade in value. My questions to start are thus:

1. Is there any action I can take against the dealer it was purchased from (Minnesota)?
2. Should I sell it to a junk yard for scrap, or try and stick it on say Craigs list? I might also add there theres a list of faults with the vehicle from no ac, dents, broken headlights and grill, failing tranny, ect..
3. Or should I just hold it and sell it piece by piece as spare parts?

The bottom line is I need to get a new vehicle and I need advise on how to get the most out of this one.

As far as the coolant pipe goes any good repair shop or AC repair shop can make up a pipe.

Is the rest of it in good shape?
Is anything on the tilte about a buy back or repo or rebuilder or salvage title?
If you have a good clean title there is no reason why they can not give you a good trade in if they want to trade with you.


If you dealer does not want to trade shop around and find one that does.

Your dealer should have told you about the lemon by back deal when you bought it.

But it lived 5 years as a lemon by back that is not your problem on trade in.
When dealer figures a trade the look at book valve and condition and mileage.
I do not know of any dealer that would run it threw carfax.

But if body is beat up that bad no or very little trade in value is left.
I would just keep it on the farm for farm use untill it kicks the bucket.
Let the old cows use it for a butting post.

Yea, thats why I'm trying to figure out if there's anything I can do to the dealer that sold it to us. I would never buy a vehicle from them again but I'd make them buy it back or something. .. Make em an offer they can't refuse :wink:

I can not help much on that end.

But if you can prove any intent to defraud by the dealer you have him by the rear end on it.
But
A lot may depend on your states laws.
Your lawyer or your states attorney general may be able to help.

Next one you by run a carfax before buying.
