i have a '96 integra gsr and im tryin to find the right exhaust and i have no clue what to get. originally i was going for the Apexi N1 cat back and the GT header, but then i heard that it's obnoxiously loud and i'm not looking for extra tickets... i thought about the Greddy stuff but i'm not sure 'bout that either. what i want out of it is good sound but not rediculously loud, and good power gain. any suggestions/tips would help, thanks. :bandit:

tanabe racing medalian sounds sweet...stay away from greddy IMO its jus over-priced an sounds like ish. (others will say diff, s'all good, its their opinion). the n1 is pretty loud..if u wanna stay away from loud, try to dc sports dual canister.

Personally I love the sound of the N1. I have a Racing medallion and it isn't so bad but I hate the size of it. 5 Zigen sounds like shit but looks sweet as hell. I'd say overall go Skunk2. Sounds sweet as hell and is barely noticable.

i have a rs*r invidia, which is now discontinued. its just like skunk2's except for the "invidia" badging on the side instead of "skunk2 power." rs*r makes them for skunk now. its full 304L grade stainless polished t a mirror-like shine, 60mm piping, 0 bottlenecks, all tig welded (very nice welds), 3/8" thick flanges, sounds great and comes w/ silencer.
I took a few pics for someone that inquired about buying it:

i would recommend GReddy. I have the Evolution system and i love it. i think it sounds perfect. but i also agree with going with a Skunk2 system.

Thermal stealth cat back is quiet. I don't know if anyone has heard of it. if not, it's at thermalrd.com

i believe that that was tested on the wrx. i think different cars have different sounds it may true but on my car it is pretty quiet compared to most.

I have dc sports which is pretty good, also recommend Greddy Evo. Thermal research is decent also. I know someone with apexi-n1 and you will get tickets, they are stupidly loud imo

personally I would go with the greddy evo... i have it on my teg and my girlfriend has it on her civ... sounds deep and not the high pitched ricey sound to it... just my two cents though.

My bro has a 2000 GSR, he got custom piping all the way back, with cats and resonator still there, and bolted on the Mugen muffler, its not that loud at all, sounds really good actually, doesn't have the low weak sound, like its puttering in low rpm, or have a whining sound like a weed wacker, it sounds like it has guts. (its sensible, not loud).. if you got the cash, do somthing custom and than bolt a muffler on. i did the same, but I got a magnaflow muffler, it sounds good, but after like 4500 rpm, it seems like you can't hear it amymore, just engine sound. But people like it. If i had some real cash though, i go with custom piping and a JIC muffler.. they look sweet.

imo i recommend the greddy evo catback. i have it on my 00 gsr and it sounds deep and sporty not all whiny like the cheap coffee can exhaust. u can only feel minimal difference in power but i plan to get a dc 4-1 header and skunk2 intake manafold. i have the Dc Dac intake system now. and i think my car sounds pretty nice. just my opinion:bloated:

i have a tanabe hyper medallion, and it sounds sweet. i've gotten many copliments on the way it sounds. its not too loud. nice mellow tone. plus you get about the same amount of power out of it as a lot of the higher priced units. the racing medallion is also a nice piece. :bonghitte

I hope everyone here realizes that most mass produced exhauses has a 60mm tubing. What does that mean? Regardless of which one you pick, the only difference between a DC and a Tanabe or a Skunk2 would be the sound and how it looks. The gains are relatively minor.
So when you want to buy yourself an exhaust (usually about $400-$600) and gain about 0-5HP (sometimes you loss HP in some cases) then go for it. Otherwise its just for the sound.

different muffler designs, along with the bottlenecks that some of these exhaust systems have, provide for different flow characteristics. sound is just a bonus. true, they dont offer much of a gain, but neither do many other single n/a parts.

i would suggest the comptech system.. headers and exhaust..
it's a really nice sound.. and it doesn't sound like a lawnmower..
