G-Tech is SOMEWHAT on target.
It's usually a few tenths of a sec. off and a few MPH as well.
Track is always a better and safer place to find out what your car will do.
11.4's on motor for me :sun:
Probably gonna throw some spray on the car next winter and keep my fingers crossed for mid 10's.

I dont believe in the G-tec rating. Theirs a lot more to getting 1/4 times since the driver can be a complete shmuck and not come close to a cars potential.

Agreed...the only way to get an accurate 1/4 mile time or 1/8 mile time is at the track.

also when the gtech supposedly calculates hp, it doesnt take into account fwd, rwd, awd, or gear ratios, tire and wheel sizes, or pretty much anything but time and weight. a car with 400 hp and a car with 200 hp can run the same time, depending on these variables. one said my car has 240 hp, i know for a fact my car has a lot less than that, as it came with 160 stock and only has an intake and exhaust, its prob really got about 170hp.

Rob:
Have you been to the track before to see how accurate the G-Tech is compared to your actual runs?
I would be curious to find out if it is close! Those times sound a little too quick for your car, unless you have some serious upgrades! What do you have done to your Porsche?

I took my G-tec to the track and found the actual times were sometimes as much as 1/2second off. If I launched way harder (bad wheelspin) the mph on G-tec would go up when the real track mph went down! The difference was about 5-10mph!
Another thing I measured consistant and repeatable differences in the distance traveled from standing start to end of 1/4 mile on 2 different type of cars.
I still use the G-tec for making a/b parts comparisons and estimations.
They are well worth the money!

Yeah , what you have in your porsche? Mine runs high 12s to low 13s (the 952) , as for the 911 turbo i still have to check , but my 952 is far from stock , it has almost 400 hp...

ok, back to reality, I don't think that it'd run 14.2..... I have a friend with a Lightning thats only running 15 flat, and a DMS dakota only running 15.3..... and there were multiple imports at the track... and only TWO broke below 14.5 and they had turbos and nitrous, and weren't really imports cause they were Neons..... LOL gotta love that

well, i went to the dragstrip this weekend and i was quite amused at what i was seeing.
first off, a new mustang Gt is slower than a wrx. but they are both slower than a dakota 5.9 rt
the dakota that was there ran a 15.4. not too shabby, it was spinning the tires quite well.
the gt mustang that was there first ran a 15.8, but than couldn't get it out of the 16s all day long. granted it was a convertible but it was a 5 speed, so, no excuses there.
and the wrx ran a 15.5 and than a 15.45. but with a 3 mph slower trap speed than the dakota. reason being, wheel spin.
on, and it wasnt a bad day at the track or anything, elevation of 3200 ft and my cuda ran a 13.6 @104 on street tires through the exhaust
also, idl, i'd be interest to see what your car runs at the track. if you run a 14 second time i would be very impressed...it would have to be very near sea level if you wanted anything close to a 14.99 after seeing the troubles that wrx was having.

That sounds about right, there are a few ppl getting that number on stock WRXs, but they are damn good drivers.

15.6 or so with my t-bird. My launch sucks (8 second 0-60) but after 60 it just tears the road up. I wanna take it down to a track to run it, I think the time I got was a lil low for my -mostly- stock t-bird. Anyone else hear of 90-93 5.0 t-bird times?

ACTUALLY.............. I Got a run in at the track in my stang a while back and used the Gtech as well. The run I got was a 13.7 and my Gtech read 13.7! I don't remember what the trap speed was for the run on my slip or the Gtech but it was the ONLY run I got that I remembered to turn on the Gtech.
As far as Horsepower #'s....... I draw the line there. I don't think it's accurate. BUT I deffinately agree with the times in the 1/4 mile. Maybe it is off a few 10ths at times but it deffinately has been a great device to get an Idea of the time I will be running at the track.
Plus, It's a great toy and excuse for a safe run in the outskirts of town.

ok, I was wrong there, but still right about him being wrong;)
I thought that when the generations changed, they changed in all countries.
so was it a 2001 RSX wiht K20, or was it still a 3rd Gen wiht a K20A, must be the first one right, cuz I heard that putting the K20 in anything is a pain in the ass. if it is the 2nd, you could buy replacement mounts for the 2001 ITR and put a K20 in a 94 integra, correct?
