Hey guys! I'm really into racing, and I also HATE losing  And if you've ever lost before, you know how much you never want to lose again. I'm here to find some ways to ensure victory. Now, aside from the fact that you need a good car to race, I wanted to know what some things were you could do in order to increase your SKILL? Thanx a lot. :sun:

You could go to one of those racing schools

Practice your launch, a bad launch will lose races not to mention the embarrassment factor :)

Well, what kind of racing are you doing or wanting to do?

Well, I'm talking about street racing. And, thanx, launch is a VERY important factor! Perhaps the most important. When it comes to this type of racing, I know that timing is everything.

Alright, so, were talking about drag racing here.
Like ZXTT said, the launch is everything. Sure, you will race some cars that are slow enough that you will be able to pull up on them but there are a lot of cars that if you loose out of the hole due to a shitty launch then you have no hope of catching up.
Try and work on finding the best area of your power band to launch, an area where you have good power but you aren't loosing grip. Also playing with your timing of letting out the clutch and pushing in the gas.
Next thing to worry about is shifting. You want to find an area in the power band where your torque and HP are BOTH at optimal points to shift. There is a point where your engine will flatten out and you have no more room to go, you are simply wasting time. Some people prefer to just shift at redline, that looses races. The beat way to find optimal shifting points is by usage of a dynometer and practice.
The top priority you should have when doing this on the street is other people in your car and around you. Never race if it puts someone else’s life in danger. Never race on crowded streets, try and take it away from main roads to the back country. This will help you avoid the fuzz as well.
Not trying to preach to you there, just didn't want to sound like I condone street racing at it's fullest thought I do street race to extent, I would rather take it to the track if I can.

Alright! Great stuff man! Thanx a lot. And don't worry, I'll take it to the track when neccessary. You also hit a good point, clutching, so I'll keep that in mind. :)

launch launch launch launch launch. then shift fast :D . 90 percent of the street races are gonna come down to driver, unless one person is jus WAY faster then the other.

Would it be the same thing with auto? brake torque till a rpm that you have good power but you aren't loosing grip and shift from 1 to 2 when your in an area in the power band where your torque and HP are both at optimal points to shift?????

Losing sucks but don't take it seriously. It's all fun man just keep that in your mind. Thats not exactly helping you out but it's advice to take.

Well theres the Clutch, brake, and gas from left to right (respectivly) on the floor. The gas makes you go and the brake makes you stop.
Oh and uh, fasten you seat belt!

I know, I know, but for some reason, it's always the worst feeling in the world for me. I mean, I almost lost my mind from losing in a racing video game (NFS:HP2) even though I won 7 times and the other person won once, and he got lucky anyways, but I still felt really bad. Anyways, I would also like to add that I enjoy motorcycles, and if anyone here has any motorcycle racing tips, I would take those in just as well, thanx! :)

another thing you want to consider is cheater tactics in street racing...
if you watch the other driver, you can tell when they move their body to launch...
don't go on the hand drop, go on the other guy's body movement...
i read that in an article about the guy that races the tt civic (custom setup on the NIRA circuit i believe)..
he watches the other guy... that'll get you the upperhand...
watch other drivers in traffic, and you'll notice they shift their bodies when they go to take off or shift... anticipate...

ok please explain this if you watch the other guy taking off how can you be faster than him when you wait for him to launch. Keeps your eyes on the light and lanch as fast as your reflexes alow. Don't even think about the other guy that will only distract you.

hello there...
did he not say street racing?
yeah, that's based on the other guy.
not the tree.
winning a street race isn't about waiting for the guy to drop his hands, it's about being quicker than the other guy.
yes, at the track, there's nothing to watch but the tree, b/c you're not racing the other guy, you're racing the lights.
on the street, you're racing the other guy. end of story.

my point was that if you wait for the other guy to make the move first you just lost the initial reaction since obviously he already gunned it. My point was that it would be better to try to be the first who launches - of course whithout looking like you jumped the gun to fast and cheated.

I think he was referring to racing from a roll. If you're racing from a stoplight then it's all about reaction time when he light goes green. You go full out as soon as the green light come on, regaurdless of what the other guy does. However if you're going from a roll then all of what he said earlier is good to know. Watching the other driver to see when he's going to go and such. Like with me I ALWAYS let the other guy go first. But as soon as he starts to go I'm going as well.
