I've got a 2.2L 5speed manual 97 Sunfire I plan on doing some work on sometime this week. Changing the oil/filter, air filter, PCV valve, and fuel filter. I've done most of it before except for the fuel filter. I know I need to depressurize the fuel line before I remove the old one but I'm confused on how to do it. I know there are two methods. My buddy told me to take out the fuse for the fuel pump and run the car til it stalls, but my dad always said it was a bad idea to let air get into the fuel injectors (ie. run out of gas). I also know that there is a shrader valve somewhere on the fuel rail that I can use to depressurize the line, but I can't find it. I understand this is the more proper way of depressurizing.
Does anyone have any advice on this? Can I just run the engine for a few seconds instead of completely out of gas or will this not take enough pressure out? Or can anyone give me a detailed description on how to find the shrader valve? A picture would be awesome. Feel free to contact me directly if need be.
