hey everyone, my friends dad (who builds custom alternators) is building me an alternator (Around 150 amps i think). hes lettin me get it powder coated for free and i need some help pickin the color. im considering blue, red, and lime green. i may also be able to have it chromed but im not sure. i dont have any other colored parts in the engine bay (except for a blue and a red power wire) and i dont think i plan on any other custom parts.
if you guys could rate from 1-4 which u think would look best( red blue lime green or chrome) that would be awsome. or at least ur first two choices. thanks everyone!

My vote goes for chrome.
The rest depending on the color of your car.
Or you might consider a more neutral color like black.

Red!!!
Lime green? Reminds me of the colors Chrysler used on their old and new cars. Speaking of which they just filed for bankruptcy today.

Not to mention white and chrome looks really really sharp.
Tell you the truth since you have a white car, my second vote would go for white.

IMO an alternator would not stay white very long...
i go for chrome

woohoo so when i picked it up today i was pleasently surprised that it was a much redder red ha. the pic that my friend sent originally(the one posted) made it look a little duller. its as red as red gets. with the chrome pulley, it looks so nice =) i put it in and it looks great. one problem. now i want to paint more parts in my engine! haha. and if anyone does need or want one let me know. the guy works for a custom parts manufacturer. i believe its called tough stuff or something like that. based in cleveland, they made alternators for jay leno and brittany spears (so she could run a blow dryer in her car) ha.
ill get a good pic up sometime this week

So, what is the point of a colored alternator or any other part under the hood?
About the only person who will see it is your mechanic,
will he charge you less for working on your car because he likes the color of your alternator?:grinno:

Car clubs and in most cases car shows where you pop the hood my love. Just because the outside looks good for everybody doesn't mean the inside can't either. ;)
