2002 gtp vertical control arm bushing

my vertical control arm bushing is completly shot. it has fallen out of the metal ring and i need to change it. is it hard to change and what kind of tolls would i need to do it?

This is a common issue, and is easiest to change using an air hammer to drive out the steel collar from the old bushing. Depending on clearance room to work, you may have to take the control arm off the car. I did the ones on my wifes minivan (same setup) with out removing the control arms.

21 mm socket, 18 mm socket, 21 mm wrench, 18mm wrench, T55 torx, side cutter, pry bar, and BFH.

Unplug ABS connector at knuckle. Remove ABS harness from lower control arm.Remove the cotter pin and nut from the lower ball joint. Separate ball joint from knuckle. Remove 2 bolts that secure control arm to subframe. Pound out the old bushing. Pound in the new bushing notating which way the flange went (one side the flange is on the bottom of the control arm the other side is on the top, the reason is it is the same control arm for either the left or right side they just mount the ball joint different for each side) and making sure the slots in the rubber are lined up 90 degrees to the control are. Use the other side for refference.

The OP will need to follow the proper alignment procedure for installing the control arm vertical bushing or it may screw up the original ride, handling and road feel. See below.

Align flat edge of the bushing flange to the mark in the control arm. Ensure that the edge of the bushing flange is 30 degrees from the centerline of the lower control arm. Ensure the thin slot in the bushing is facing outboard. Then insert bushing into the control arm.

ok i got it done. i took off the controll arm and took it to the garage to press them in and out for 20 dollars. then i put the arms back on. all done and much cheaper than a new arm or paying someone to do the whole job. i could have removed the vertical ones but the horizantal ones looked tricky. thanks guys
