on a 92 explorer. right behind the oil drain plug part of the engine.
back as in towards the back wheels there is a metal gasket seperating a diamond-ish shape part that leads to the rear wheel power.
well that gasket is partially blown, i dont know what it is or what to do about it. any ideas? i have a pic but not sure how to post.

Is it the metal piece that is sandwiched in between the engine and transmission. If so its only there to block the gaps and keep out debris. It does not seal anything. If there is an oil leak it is either the oil pan or the rear main seal. If it is leaking transmission fluid coming out of that area than you may have a front seal leaking.

i see, yeah it looked kind of hollow in there, nothing leaking out of it. guess i should still use some seal all or something so i dont get mud in there though.
