99 montana will not start after sitting for 6 months

parked in the driveway about 6 months ago, the was to the point where the would only hold a charge for 1 day, as long as you drove every day.

We sold the van and now it won't start, it is getting gas, but no spark I don't think. Why would it just loose spark just from sitting...

Any help would be appreciated. Thank you!

.

If you feel its a "lack of spark" condition, check / replace:
- Distributor rotor.
- Distributor cap.
- Spark Plug wires.
- Spark plugs.

If pulling / replacing its spark plugs, take a cylinder compression tester and test the compression of all 6 cylinders. Each cylinder must be within 10% ratio of one another. Your local auto mechanic should advise the proper "compression range" of your vehicle's engine. If you are "good with a wrench", its worth buying a tester. And, you can use it on other engines as well. Glad I bought my engine compression tester 5 years ago. That tool still works great today.

If there is spark on all 6 plugs, double check its gas condition as well. Might have water in gas (from natural condensation). If so, replace all gas and install newer gas. Put a few small teaspons of gas down its intake as well. Thus, helping to flush out "old gas" in this area as well. Might want to check (replace) its gas filter (if it has an inline gas filter - like my old 2001 Safari van) and if needed, double check its fuel pump as well.

Also check for any mice nests inside engine area and under dash. Sometimes, mice "love" chewing wires that is in their way.

Last fall, my generator would NOT start at all. It had spark, it has gas and it had new lines / gas filter. Still, it would NOT start. Put a few tea spoons of gas down its intake, waited 10 seconds and pulled its rope. She's been working great since then. Sometimes, this "extra drink" helps and sometimes it doesn't. Worth trying on a vechile engine as well....

When trouble shooting a non-start engine, always think of "Spark, Gas flow and Air Flow".

Hope this helps...

So what makes you think its getting fuel? How can you tell if the injectors are firing in there or not? I can think of no way to check for fuel unless I pulled a plug out and it was wet with fuel.

I'd look for a more basic problem, like a bad pcm fuse or power related trouble. If you parked it with a bad battery 6 months back, what have you done now--put in a new battery or charged/jump started with the old one?

You really need to get a scan tool on this vehicle. Guessing will only result in replacing parts that are not needed. Checking the basics is a good idea, but replacing parts without even knowing if you are getting a signal from the crank position sensor would be a bad idea. A scan tool will cost less than replacing all these parts if you do not know anybody with one.

Well, if I check at the valve at the intake, it gets gas and if it was gas, would fire at least.
Checked and no spark, I think the passlock disables the coil? Could the battery being dead for soo long screw up the passlock?

I used a scanner and comes up with nothing. All fuses and relays are good.
Does anybody know how to reset passlock on this 99 montana. My 2000 Grand Am just needed to do the "ON" for 10 minute intervals, 3 times, does not work.
