Hi everyone! Ok I been searching and searching but couldn't quite find a thread or anything on google or yahoo that was quite like my problem. My brother has a 97 elantra gls. He was driving to work one day and it shut off on him. He got it towed home. Kept trying to crank it with no success. Come to find out the his ecu fuse was blown." The 20amp fuse under the hood". Sooo we replaced it. Engine would turn over and "maybe" crank. Wen it did crank it would run for a little while then shut off then u couldn't crank it again. Replaces the spark plugs, wires, coil pack, and even the ecm. Still won't start. The timing is dead on. Firing order is correct, gas tank is full, it tries to but just won't. Fuel pump and injectors are working fine. All fuses are ok. It seems like its not getting any spark, but the times is does crank whuy would the spark just stop? Any and all help is greatly appreciated. Thanks for anyone time and effort.

Ok. The coil pack is getting the correct voltage from the ecm. But isn't sparking. A local mechanic said could be ignition control module? Does this car have one and where is it. I tried searching on af and just leads me to a ebay thread with tps for sale from fourgreen. And can't find any info on it on google or yahoo. I'm bout to stop messin wit it cause my brother isn't really helpin n its his car. He won't buy a manual for it and isn't searching on the web. This is my last attempt to get it runnin. So your help is appreciated. Thanks.

Why don't you get a trouble code scan? 97 was ODB II compliant, so any ODB II scan tool will work.
