I have a 2000 Grand Prix GTP with the factory boost gauge that also shows anything wrong with the car and how many miles I am getting to the gallon.. ect.. It had been flickering for a while so I know it had a short somewhere, and then finally yesterday it quit working all together. Would this be the fuse or could all of the lights burnt out in it? I have already had the radio light go out and the heater lights burn up. Is this a common problem with these cars? I hate riding around with only half my lights working! Thanks for any help provided

I had the same problem with my radio lights. I sent it in to a company who replaced all of them for 30 bucks and shipped it back. At the same time I also had them clean my laser assembly and replace whatever part fixes the volume (mine turnd up slightly when I went to turn it down). Total bill there was about 50.00, and has been working ever since. Let me know if you need the link.

They might even be able to replace your heater control lights.

The DIC is part incondescant and part LED's which light up. The LED's illuminate the eng/met, mode, tcs buttons at night. Its very very very uncommon to brun out an LED. If these buttons dont light up, you have a seperate issue. I'm leaning towards the Ignition switch/harness.

Thank you! Please give me the link just in case I need it, my husband already changed the heater control lights, he had to desolder them and solder in new ones. Thanks again

Yep, thats what the company did with my radio. It was really quick service, and best of all cheap and they replaced ALL the lights for just 30 bucks.

Here is the Link, send them an email.

Hey I took my DIC Info Center out, and the 3 back lights were blown, but I didn't think LED's could blow. They look good not burnt or anything. I don't think it is getting any power at all, before it quit working it would flash dim and bright with the headlights on. Any suggestions?

The three removable ones are incondescant and have been known to burn out. Might as well replace them since your there. If you look behind the buttons, you will find the LED's.

If it dims and brightens in corrosponding to turning on your lights, I would almost say that is normal as all your lights and guages should dim when you turn your lights on and brighten when you turn them off.

If the DIC is not getting any power then check and monitor the 12 volts at the DIC fuse socket. Based on your symptoms it could be an ignition switch issue. The switch contacts carbon up or arc out and you may first see the symptom at the DIC and possibly other accessories or when it is under load like when the headlights are on.

Would it hurt anything to do away with the dic and make me a nice guage pod with like a boost trans temp and oil pressure or could it cause other stuff not to work like it should

You could remove the DIC with no other issues, but if thats what you thinking about doing, you just masking the problem. If the issues currently with your DIC are in fact caused by the Ignition Switch Harness, you will see further issues down the road.
